Become energy efficient
As fuel bills continue to rise, more people are turning to energy efficient solutions. Conservatories, orangeries and contemporary glass extensions use only the finest quality materials for their glass structures. Using Aluminium and glass will provide you with a structure of cutting edge design that also provides thermal efficiency allowing you to be eco-friendly in your choice. Aluminium is such a good conductor of heat that it requires a ‘thermal break’, which reduces the amount of heat lost through the frame. Therefore you are making the most of the heat in your home, potentially reducing your fuel costs.
Aluminium and glass can provide the natural answer to conservatories and orangeries, by adding a beautiful conservatory to your home not only increases its desirability and value, but is the perfect answer to expanding your living area and opening up your home to space and light.
The design opportunities using a combination of glass and aluminium are endless. Quality conservatory and orangery companies employ expert designers, to help guide customers through the design process, to ensure they achieve their ultimate desires to create an individual and distinct structure tailored to suit exactly the style and taste of their homes, as well as providing up to date information and ways to build more energy efficient structures.
You can now create conservatories, roof lights, orangeries, summer rooms, and much, much more. This combination of materials is a natural choice, as not only are they virtually maintenance free due to their corrosion resistant qualities, but as aluminium is strong, flexible, and being a natural resource (the third most abundant element in the earth’s crust) it can be commercially recycled at the end of its useful life – truly a ‘green friendly’ product.
Due to the properties of aluminium you can incorporate floor to ceiling glass doors, glass roofs and passages that will be flooded with natural light. And it’s also worth noting that all glass is not the same, fact! Insulating glass is measured in U values, the lower the U value the better the insulating glass or comfort factor. To ensure your conservatory or orangery can be used and kept warm in winter, it is imperative that the right glass is chosen. Government guidelines recommend Pilkington K glass, our opinion is that this glass and specification is no longer acceptable. We recommend that you only put in glass that achieves a U value of 1.1 that’s an improvement of around 55% on the Government’s recommended standard Pilkington K glass.
Whatever style of conservatory or orangery you choose, you can be sure that by choosing the right materials for your build will result in an energy efficient structure that will give many years of pleasure.
