When you travel to Cambodia, the money or the currency which you are going to use is always an issue. Cambodia’s official currency is Reil. However, US dollars is also widely used in this country. Yes, one can actually buy stuffs, pay for rents and fares using US currency. This is why the question as what currency to bring in Cambodia always arises.

 

Although Reil is the currency in Cambodia, US dollars is still dubbed to be the king in Cambodia in terms of monetary usage. If you have enough US dollars brought, there will be no need to go into banks to have them exchanged. You can pay with it in hotels, markets, and restaurants. If you need small changes in Reil, you can even have your dollars exchanged in these places immediately. It is however suggested though to bring small amounts in Reil when in Cambodia because when you pay in small amounts in dollar, they will give you Reil as change.

 

The use of two currencies in the Cambodia’s trading and commerce is causing most tourists a confusion on which currency is better to use. Most people say that spending in dollars while in Cambodia is expensive.
